In mother, Vanessa Teodoro turns to the many faces of the feminine: mother-
hood in its tenderness and its unraveling, mother earth, the artisan's hand,
and the sacred that runs quietly beneath all three. Born from a year of deep
personal transformation, the exhibition brings together the artist's own
works with pieces made in collaboration with women artisans across two
continents, beadwork from Cape Town and Arraiolos embroidery from
Portugal woven alongside her own evolving visual language of organic
line and layered form. Reclaimed wood, terracotta, leaves and sticks gath-
ered on her walks: each material carries its own history into the gallery,
transformed but never erased. The result is an exhibition that honors inheri-
tance and reinvention in the same breath, an intimate meditation on what it
means to hold memory, to give voice to what often goes unspoken, and to
keep moving with life's currents rather than against them.
For my mother and my grandmother, and for the love that remains when
memory slips away. the heart never forgets.
